You can learn a lot about yourself and another person by they way you come together and connect with one another. You learn about loyalty, commitment, honesty, truthfulness, openness, respect and love.
If any one of you can relate, over the years I have nurtured many different types of friendships. I have grown a lot through these friendships. Some I made deep connections with, while others I questioned how and why I nurtured it for the length of time which I did. Through it all, I have gained a deep sense of gratitude for all of the characters who have come and gone and for those who still remain. Because it is through these connections which have taught me and elevated me to being the person I am today.
I got to learn and exercise many different inner muscles like courage, following my truth, letting go, forgiveness, trust and love. I shared equally in some of the most deep and superficial conversations alike. I learned a lot about who I am, from what I like from what I don’t like. I experienced joy and pain which brought about peace as well as many internal and external struggles. The different interactions offered for a lot of digging deep, adventures, growth and development. All very intriguing and exciting I might add.
I wore many different outfits along the way working through to see what outfit of friendships were a true reflection of the healthy relationships I deserved. I tolerated some friendships to the point of utter self betrayal, silenced myself to avoid conflict or confrontation. While in other relationships I stood up and learned how to find my voice and create boundaries. I found love within myself to share and offer to others. And in some friendships I observed that I was experiencing the same uncomfortable feelings from my childhood, noting that I was living out the same old patterns of my past in my present day life with these connections.
Through it all, I can look back and see how much I have emerged, developed and grown through these connections which I am deeply grateful because they have been specially designed characters just for me to evolve into the being I am today.
In my more mature years, with the data, knowledge and intel I have for my soul, I have a different view on friendships than in my younger years. Friendships for me now are more than just the good times and the bad times. It is more than just through think and thin. It isn't about the amount of people in my friends circle, however the quality of people or person in my inner surroundings. It isn't about the amount of time we spend together or how often we speak to one another, it's about how we treasure the times when we can be together and the moments we get to dialogue and catch up. Friendships are not about how long you have known each other however how you connect with one another.
I have come to value friendships as being a reflection of the truth of how we love ourselves through these connections.
Our friendships offer value and contributes to us becoming the best versions of ourselves. A safe place where we are free to come together and express and explore the truth of who we are more deeply and live this truth with each other.
Our tribe is our safe haven where we rejuvenate and draw strength from and receive support. Our tribe is our village built on the strong values which promotes, projects and expresses the truth of our souls.
Who is your Tribe? Are they your safe place? Are they your sanctuary? Do they reflect and mirror the truth and values of your soul?
